Marcus Marauders football · 2026 season.

The Marcus Marauders hit the road Friday night but came up just short in a hard-fought non-district clash against Martin, falling 22-17. Despite an explosive start and a late fourth-quarter surge, the Marauders couldn't completely erase the deficit in a game defined by major momentum swings.

The Marauders struck like lightning early in the first quarter when running back Andrew Emmert broke loose up the middle for a sensational 65-yard touchdown run. The early fireworks set a physical tone, but Martin answered with a pair of deep touchdown passes to build a lead heading into halftime.

Marcus' defense tightened up in the second half, repeatedly giving the offense a chance to climb back into the game. Defensive back Evan Sacks delivered a massive momentum shift in the third quarter by undercutting a deep sideline route for a clutch interception. The defensive front also applied steady pressure, highlighted by Liam Hoskins dropping the quarterback for an 8-yard sack.

In the fourth quarter, the Marcus defense struck again, blowing up a jet sweep in the backfield and pouncing on the ensuing fumble. Capitalizing on the turnover, quarterback Cash Davis marched the offense down the field, connecting with Austin Higginbotham on a crisp 12-yard strike before going right back to Higginbotham for a 7-yard touchdown in the corner of the end zone.

Despite the late rally and a valiant defensive effort, Martin held on in the closing moments to secure the 22-17 victory. The Marauders (1-1) will look to bounce back next Friday night when they return to Marauder Stadium to host Pearce.
