The Marcus Marauders opened their district slate and the annual Battle for the Axe with a tough 40-7 road loss to the Lewisville Farmers on Friday night. Despite Lewisville missing their starting quarterback due to a pregame UIL ruling, backup Aiden Evans stepped in and proved to be a dual-threat nightmare for the Marcus defense.

The Farmers set the tone early and often on the ground. Evans sparked the Lewisville offense with a massive 66-yard scramble for a touchdown, and running back DJ Martin added a 22-yard breakaway score to build the advantage. The Marauders struggled to contain the rushing attack throughout the night, as Evans later added a 13-yard touchdown run and a backbreaking 58-yard dash down the sideline.

Marcus's offense, which had been electric during non-district play, struggled to find its rhythm against a relentless Lewisville defensive front. Quarterback Cash Davis faced constant pressure and was sacked multiple times. The Marauders' lone bright spot came when Davis pushed forward on a gritty one-yard quarterback sneak for a touchdown.

Lewisville capped the scoring with a creative 35-yard shovel pass for a touchdown, sealing the 40-7 final as the clock expired with the Farmers in the victory formation. The Marauders (2-2, 0-1) will look to quickly regroup and bounce back next week when they return home to Marauder Stadium to host Hebron in a crucial district matchup.
