The Marcus Marauders wrapped up their non-district slate in dominant fashion, overpowering the JJ Pearce Mustangs 45-14 at Marauder Stadium. Bouncing back from a narrow road loss last week, the Marauders seized control early and never looked back, clicking on both sides of the ball to carry a 2-1 record into their upcoming bye week.

Marcus set a blistering pace in the first quarter to build an early 17-0 cushion. Quarterback Cash Davis connected with Caleb Steen on a wide receiver screen, and Steen followed his blockers down the sideline for an electric 21-yard touchdown. The Marauders' defense quickly joined the scoring barrage when Evan Sacks scooped up a Pearce fumble on an option play and returned it all the way to the end zone for a defensive touchdown.

While Pearce managed to find the end zone twice in the second quarter to cut the deficit, the Marauders kept their composure. Davis restored the two-score advantage right before the break, rolling out and throwing a pinpoint 3-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Mayfield in the back corner of the end zone, sending Marcus into halftime with a comfortable 24-14 lead.

The second half was a masterclass by the Marcus defense, completely shutting out the Mustangs the rest of the way. Meanwhile, running back Andrew Emmert continued his spectacular early-season form. The dynamic ball carrier took a handoff up the middle, hit the second level, and broke loose for a stunning 43-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to blow the game wide open.

Emmert struck again in the fourth quarter with a tough 2-yard touchdown plunge. Although the stadium scoreboard lagged at 38-14 in the final minutes, running back Elijah Estes punctuated the night by rushing up the middle for a late touchdown, and Santiago Diaz knocked through his final extra point to finalize the 45-14 victory. The Marauders will now rest up before hitting the road to face Lewisville in their highly anticipated district opener on September 25.
