The Marcus Marauders ran into a powerhouse on Friday night, falling 58-14 on the road to the Denton Guyer Wildcats. The explosive Guyer offense dictated the pace from the outset, handing Marcus its sixth consecutive District 5-6A loss as the 2026 season nears its conclusion.

Guyer quarterback Carter Morgan put on a clinic, breaking loose for a 41-yard touchdown run and proving equally lethal through the air. Morgan connected with receiver Tristan Shelton for a pair of dynamic scores, including a 48-yard strike and a 19-yard touchdown pass that kept the Marauders' secondary on its heels all night.

Offensively, Marcus faced relentless pressure that derailed several promising drives. Quarterback Cash Davis tried to make plays out of the pocket but tossed an interception to linebacker Jake Garcia, while backup Ben Joy also suffered a late interception. Despite the passing struggles, running back Drew Emmert provided a physical spark by grinding out tough yardage and punching in a 6-yard touchdown run.

Now sitting at 2-7 overall and 0-6 in district play, head coach Mike Alexander's squad returns home next week. The Marauders will look to end their difficult season on a high note when they host the Wakeland Wolverines on November 5 in their district finale at Marauder Stadium.
