The Jesuit Rangers secured their first victory of the 2026 season on Friday night, overcoming an early deficit to defeat Forney 31-14 at Ranger Stadium. Trailing 14-7 in the first quarter, Jesuit flipped the script, rattling off 24 unanswered points and locking down the Jackrabbits for the remainder of the contest.
The offense found its rhythm through a balanced attack and explosive downfield strikes. Quarterback J.P. Livingstone continued his electric chemistry with wide receiver Joseph Konings. Following a clutch 10-yard bubble screen by Konings that put the Rangers on the doorstep, Beau Johnson punched in a 1-yard touchdown run to keep pace in the opening frame. In the second quarter, Livingstone and Konings provided the defining spark, connecting on a brilliant 81-yard touchdown bomb that gave Jesuit a lead it would never relinquish.
Defensively, the Rangers delivered a masterclass after the opening quarter, pitching a shutout for the final three frames. The defining defensive stand came in the second quarter when defensive back JD Moore sniffed out a Forney fake punt, stuffing the runner short of the line to gain and forcing a critical turnover on downs. The relentless defensive pressure continued late into the game, highlighted by defensive back Jack Bourret securing a deflected interception in the fourth quarter to snuff out any hopes of a Forney comeback.
Special teams also played a crucial role in putting the game out of reach. The Rangers perfectly executed a 40-yard field goal in the final quarter to extend the lead to three possessions. The complementary performance across all three phases marked a major turning point for the Rangers early in the season.
Jesuit will look to build on this commanding victory as they hit the road next week. The Rangers travel to take on Princeton next Friday night in their final non-district tune-up before district play begins.
