Highland Park Comes Up Short in 49-46 Shootout Against Rockwall Heath

Highland Park fell to Rockwall Heath 49-46. Fri · Sep 4, 2026

Highland Park Scots football · 2026 season.

The Highland Park Scots took their high-powered offense on the road to Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium on Friday night, but found themselves on the wrong end of a 49-46 shootout against Rockwall Heath. In a non-district clash defined by explosive plays and rapid momentum shifts, a late push to tie the game with a field goal and force overtime ultimately fell short, dropping the Scots to 0-2 on the season.

Quarterback Buck Randall continued to showcase his arm strength, perfectly executing a 75-yard touchdown strike to Beckett Lawrence across the middle. Randall also connected with Liam Thomas down the sideline for a 37-yard chunk play to keep the chains moving. On the ground, Highland Park deployed a deep stable of backs. Logan Jones gashed the defense with a 31-yard burst up the middle and added a four-yard touchdown run, while Carson Adams and Carter Zahm each punched in short rushing scores to keep pace.

However, Rockwall Heath's offense proved too elusive to contain. Quarterback Prosper Neal was a constant dual-threat headache, scrambling for two rushing touchdowns on his own and connecting with Christian Contreras for multiple scoring strikes, including a back-breaking 55-yard touchdown pass. Despite a resilient effort from the Scots' defense to stay within striking distance, Heath always found an answer in the crucial moments.

Highland Park head coach Randy Allen and his squad will look to translate their offensive consistency into a complete team victory next week. The Scots return to the friendly confines of Highlander Stadium for their home opener against Tyler, eager to put a notch in the win column.
