Fort Worth Christian continued its dominant stretch on Tuesday night, overwhelming UME Preparatory Academy with a 16-1 victory at Cat Corden Field. Stepping out of TAPPS district play for a brief midweek tune-up, the Cardinals' bats erupted, turning an early 1-1 tie into an absolute blowout and improving their stellar overall record to 16-3.
The offense was sparked by relentless extra-base hits and clutch hitting with runners in scoring position. After Jackson Perdue tied the game in the early innings by absorbing a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, the floodgates opened. Griffin Carney delivered multiple crushing blows, ripping a pair of run-scoring doubles to the outfield gaps that drove in a combined three runs. Brenner James then applied the exclamation point late in the contest, clearing the bases with a booming three-run double to right field.
Up and down the lineup, the Cardinals applied constant pressure on the UME Prep pitching staff.
