The Fort Worth Christian Cardinals grinded out a gritty 3-2 victory over Dallas HSAA on Tuesday night at Cat Corden Field. Navigating a tense, low-scoring affair outside of TAPPS district play, the Cardinals leaned on timely hitting and reliable defense to secure the narrow win, improving their impressive overall record to 20-5-1.
FWC's offense manufactured essential hits when they mattered most. Grady Emerson sparked the attack early, lacing a double past the right fielder to put himself in scoring position. Later in the contest, Emerson continued his hot hitting with a sharp single up the middle, although the HSAA defense managed to cut down a run at the plate on the play. Jackson Perdue also delivered a major highlight, crushing a deep double into the left-center field gap, while Hank Austin joined the extra-base parade with a clutch double of his own to right-center.
On the defensive side, the Cardinals executed cleanly to keep Dallas HSAA at bay. The infield flashed the leather when second baseman Griffin Carney scooped up a sharp grounder and fired a strike to Andrew Ridgell at first base to extinguish a threat.
