Fort Worth Christian Cardinals baseball · 2026 season.
The Fort Worth Christian Cardinals shook off an early deficit to absolutely dismantle the Coram Deo Academy Lions 15-3 on Thursday night at home. Bouncing back from a recent non-district stumble, the Cardinals flexed their offensive muscle to improve their overall record to an outstanding 19-5-1 and a commanding 4-1 in TAPPS district play.
The Lions threatened to make it a long night early on, jumping out to a quick advantage in the top of the first inning. J Hamm laced an RBI single to get Coram Deo on the board, and moments later, L Smith ripped a line-drive double to left field that plated two more runs. Despite the early 3-0 hole, Cardinals pitcher Gregory Smeds buckled down, striking out three consecutive batters to extinguish the threat and keep FWC within striking distance.
From that point forward, it was all Fort Worth Christian. The Cardinals chipped away and eventually overwhelmed the Lions with relentless pressure on the basepaths. Grady Emerson continued his stellar season as the offensive catalyst, scoring on a clutch sacrifice fly to right field by Braylen James that kept the line moving.
The floodgates truly opened in the later innings as the Cardinals piled on the runs. Andrew Ridgell delivered a back-breaking blow, smoking a line-drive single to center field that drove in Jake Parkerson and Jaxon Casselberry, extending the massive lead to 10-3. The bullpen took care of the rest, with Fred Hall slamming the door by freezing the final batter with a called strike three to seal the 15-3 triumph.
Fort Worth Christian will look to replicate this dominant performance immediately, hitting the road on Friday, March 27, for the second half of this back-to-back district set against Coram Deo Academy. The Cardinals will aim to complete the series sweep and solidify their spot near the top of the district standings.
