Fort Worth Christian's offense exploded on Thursday afternoon, cruising to a dominant 13-5 road victory over Denison. Coming off a lengthy rest period, the Cardinals pushed their overall record to 7-1 behind a relentless lineup that hammered extra-base hits and a defense that remained as sharp as ever.
Grady Emerson delivered an absolute masterclass at the plate to pace the Cardinals. Emerson ripped an RBI triple to left field to bring home Griffin Carney, laced an RBI ground-ball single, and ultimately delivered the knockout blow with a towering three-run home run to right field. Emerson also flashed his defensive brilliance at shortstop, smoothly initiating a putout at second base before firing to first baseman Antonio Andujar for an inning-ending double play.
The rest of the FWC lineup was equally punishing. B McDonald cleared the bases with a line-drive double to left field, driving in Emerson, Carney, and B James. Andrew Ridgell was a menace on the basepaths, blasting a triple that bounced off the outfield wall and following it up later in the game with a wall-banging double to left field.
As Denison attempted to chip away at the deficit, the Cardinals continuously answered back. Carney got in on the extra-base action with an RBI triple to right field that scored Jacob Ward. Ward himself later joined the hit parade, lacing a line-drive RBI double to left to bring Ridgell across the plate and put the game completely out of reach.
With the 13-5 win secured in the first leg of Thursday's action, Fort Worth Christian will now return to their home diamond for the nightcap. The Cardinals are set to host Frisco Heritage under the lights, looking to complete a daily sweep and extend their winning streak.
