Fort Worth Christian Cardinals baseball · 2026 season.

Fort Worth Christian saw its impressive eight-game winning streak come to a halt on Thursday afternoon, dropping a hard-fought 6-3 decision to Tyler Legacy in the back half of a doubleheader. Despite an early offensive push and a resilient effort, the Cardinals couldn't close the gap, moving their overall record to an 11-2 mark on the season following a victory over Sherman earlier in the day.

The Cardinals' offense found some rhythm and capitalized on base runners, highlighted by a clutch swing from Hank Austin. Austin laced a two-run double on a deep fly ball to left field, bringing home Jaxon Casselberry and Grady Emerson to put FWC on the board. However, Tyler Legacy's defense tightened up and managed to induce key outs, including a deep drive from Andrew Ridgell that was hauled in by the left fielder to stifle a potential rally.

On the mound, David Salas worked to keep Fort Worth Christian within striking distance. Salas battled through tough innings, notably freezing Tyler Legacy's batters with sharp breaking balls, including a crucial called strike three to record his third strikeout of the day. Despite his efforts and the defense executing on the infield, the Cardinals couldn't completely shut down their opponent's opportunistic offense.

FWC will look to quickly shake off the defeat and return to their winning ways. The Cardinals dive right back into tournament action on Friday afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. showdown against Sachse, aiming to reignite their potent lineup and start a brand-new streak.
