Colleyville Heritage Panthers football · 2026 season.

The Colleyville Heritage Panthers kicked off their 2026 season with a hard-fought battle at Panther Stadium, ultimately falling 49-31 to Anna on Friday night. Despite the loss, the Panthers showcased several explosive offensive moments that hint at their potential for the year ahead.

Defensively, Colleyville applied early pressure to disrupt the Anna backfield. Defensive back Jerrod Wiley delivered heavy heat in the first quarter, forcing a critical incompletion. Linebacker Kamden Blaxon mirrored that intensity in the second quarter, flushing the quarterback out of the pocket and forcing a throwaway under duress.

On the offensive side, quarterback Lane Vargas orchestrated some impressive drives for the Panthers. Vargas connected with wide receiver Reid Hewitt on a huge pass over the middle, with Hewitt breaking free down to the 5-yard line to set up a scoring opportunity. Vargas then capped off the first-half scoring effort with a sharp 2-yard touchdown pass to the corner of the end zone.

The Panthers continued to fight in the second half, leaning on their playmakers to move the chains. Running back Gabriel Bess found the end zone in the third quarter, taking a handoff and powering across the goal line for a rushing touchdown. Late in the fourth quarter, Vargas struck again, delivering a perfectly placed ball to the left corner of the end zone to Lucas Sunwall for another Colleyville touchdown.

Colleyville Heritage (0-1) will look to bounce back and secure their first win of the season next week as they hit the road to face Midlothian Heritage on September 4.
