Colleyville Heritage kicked off the 2025 season on the road but couldn't overcome the Red Oak Hawks, falling 20-11 in a hard-fought contest. The Panthers battled throughout the night but were unable to find a consistent rhythm against a tough Hawks squad.

The offense showed its big-play capability when quarterback Bodey Weaver connected with Connor Souphankhaisy for a spectacular 47-yard touchdown pass. Weaver also found Sameer Johnson for a crucial 20-yard gain on a 3rd-and-15 situation, proving the passing attack can move the chains under pressure. However, these moments of brilliance were too infrequent to sustain drives and control the game.

Unfortunately, critical miscues on special teams and costly turnovers hampered the Panthers' efforts. A high snap on a punt attempt resulted in a safety, giving Red Oak two points and the football. Later in the game, a promising drive was cut short when a fumble by Landon Dressell was recovered by the Hawks, thwarting a potential scoring opportunity.

The Panther defense made several key plays to keep the team in the game. Joseph Nisbet came up with a crucial interception at the end of the first half, killing a Red Oak drive. Despite the defensive effort, the Hawks' offense found the end zone on a 10-yard touchdown pass and a 9-yard scramble by quarterback Billy Middleton.

Now sitting at 0-1, Colleyville will look to regroup and correct the mistakes from week one. The team returns home next week for their home opener, providing a perfect opportunity to bounce back and get into the win column.
