Southlake Carroll defeated Eaton 49-6. Fri · Sep 25, 2026

Southlake Carroll Dragons football · 2026 season · District 4-6A.

The Carroll Dragons continued their dominant start to district play, overwhelming the V.R. Eaton Eagles 49-6 on Friday night at Dragon Stadium. Fresh off a momentum-building road victory last week, the Dragons fired on all cylinders, blending a suffocating defense with a quick-strike offense to improve to 2-0 in District 4-6A.

The Dragons' rushing attack proved unstoppable early, highlighted by the explosive play of running back Dez Bryant Jr. Slicing through the Eaton defense, Bryant Jr. broke free for a spectacular 78-yard touchdown run to set a physical tone. He later added a 30-yard rushing score down the right side, showcasing his vision and breakaway speed while punishing the Eagles in the trenches.

Quarterback Hudson Tomcheck orchestrated the aerial assault with precision and a flair for the dramatic. Tomcheck uncorked a beautiful deep ball to wide receiver Brody Knowles, resulting in a 74-yard touchdown strike. The dynamic signal-caller also connected on a 48-yard touchdown pass to Blake Gunter, who snagged a deflected ball and raced into the end zone to keep the scoreboard lighting up for the home crowd.

Defensively, Carroll completely stifled the Eagles, rendering Eaton's offense ineffective for the vast majority of the contest. The Dragons consistently pressured the backfield and forced critical turnovers on downs. In the second half, backup quarterback Palmer Pensom kept the offensive engine humming, capping the scoring with a deep touchdown pass to Beckett Mackey.

Now boasting a 3-2 overall record and a flawless start to their district slate, the Dragons have firmly put their grueling non-district schedule in the rearview mirror. Carroll will enjoy a week of preparation before returning to Dragon Stadium to host Northwest on October 9 in another pivotal district clash.
