Southlake Carroll Dragons football · 2026 season.

The Carroll Dragons faced a formidable early-season test on Friday night, falling 40-10 on the road to a heavily favored North Crowley squad. Although the Panthers used their depth and defensive pressure to dictate the pace for much of the evening, Carroll showed flashes of offensive execution early against one of the state's top defenses.

Trailing by a touchdown in the first quarter, the Dragons engineered a swift response to tie the game at 7-7. Quarterback Hudson Tomcheck sparked the march with a sharp 22-yard completion to wide receiver Blake Gunter to move the chains. Moments later, Tomcheck fired a perfectly placed 32-yard touchdown pass to tight end Easton Nied, providing Carroll's primary offensive highlight of the contest.

North Crowley's defense tightened its grip in the second quarter, capitalizing on field position to build a 28-7 halftime advantage. Despite the mounting deficit, Carroll continued to battle in the trenches with Gavin Gooden fighting for tough interior yards. The Dragons managed to put together a late fourth-quarter drive, highlighted by another key Tomcheck-to-Gunter connection, which set up a field goal to cap the team's scoring on a tough night away from home.
