Southlake Carroll Dragons football · 2026 season.

The Carroll Dragons hit the reset button on their season in emphatic fashion, opening District 4-6A play with a commanding 35-17 road victory over Keller Central on Thursday night. Emerging from a grueling non-district gauntlet, the Dragons showcased a balanced and explosive offense to start the games that count the most with a 1-0 record.

Carroll wasted no time establishing control on the ground in the first quarter. Playmaker Dez Bryant Jr set a physical tone, carving through the Chargers' defense for a pair of early scores. He sparked the offense with a 19-yard touchdown run up the middle, and shortly after, punched in a 15-yard touchdown rush to build a quick double-digit advantage.

Quarterback Hudson Tomcheck kept the pressure on the Keller Central defense as the first half continued. Recognizing the rush, the dynamic signal-caller stepped up to avoid a tackle in the backfield and scrambled 12 yards into the end zone, giving the Dragons a comfortable 21-3 lead heading into the locker room.

Keller Central found a spark in the third quarter by returning a fumbled punt snap for a touchdown, but Carroll's offense never panicked. Tomcheck quickly answered the bell, standing tall in the pocket and delivering a crisp touchdown pass over the middle to wide receiver Brody Knowles, extending the lead to 28-10 and swinging the momentum firmly back to the visitors.

Although the Chargers added a short rushing touchdown in the final frame, Tomcheck slammed the door on any potential comeback. The quarterback kept the ball on a designed sweep to the right, diving into the end zone to seal the 35-17 victory. The Dragons will now look to carry this momentum back home next week against V.R. Eaton.
