Southlake Carroll Dragons football · 2026 season.

The Carroll Dragons opened their 2026 campaign in thrilling fashion, erasing a double-digit fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Jenks 34-33 in the State Line Showdown at the historic Cotton Bowl. The dramatic victory secured head coach Lee Munn his first win at the helm of the program and proved the resilience of a new-look roster.

After a back-and-forth first half where both teams traded offensive blows, the Dragons leaned heavily on their playmakers. Quarterback Hudson Tomcheck found a rhythm in the second quarter, connecting with wide receiver Brody Knowles for a crisp 19-yard touchdown strike to keep pace with the high-powered Trojans.

Trailing 33-21 in the fourth quarter, Carroll’s defense delivered a massive stop on a Jenks two-point conversion attempt to keep the game within reach. That sparked the Dragons' offense, as Tomcheck launched a beautiful 54-yard deep touchdown pass down the middle to Knowles, rapidly closing the gap. Tomcheck kept the chains moving on the ensuing critical drive with a clutch 8-yard completion to Dez Bryant Jr. near midfield.

With the game on the line, Tomcheck took matters into his own hands. Following a methodical drive deep into Trojan territory, the signal-caller kept the ball on a designed rush to the right, scrambling into the end zone for the game-winning score. The Dragons' defense held firm on the final possessions, sealing the unforgettable 34-33 triumph.
